I don't usually watch Malay shows. Be it entertainment, dramas, movies or even news. Call me 'forget my roots', but I just don't like the proper language used in a sentence. For an example, the word aku cinta padamu sounds so yucky! I mean, if hubby says that to me at night, I'll faint! Unless, someone tells me to watch a certain show, then MAYBE I'll watch. And that is a big maybe.

I wanted to watch 'Sepet', though, which has been much talked about. It's about a love story between a Malay girl and a Chinese boy. That is enough reason for me to watch a Malay show. Heheh. For 5 days I've been going to the rental shop but it's always taken. Not wanting to have another wasted trip, I saw 'Sembilu 2005' and rented it. No kidding. Sembilu siak. Eheks.

I always like Erra's acting. So natural and convincing. Not to mention a pretty face, too. I also like Awie, even though he's not always in the big screen. He has charisma and kinda romantic. Heehee (faint!). I always wonder what happened to the love of those two.

Anyway, I had no idea what 'Sembilu 2005' is about. I know there was no connection to the previous Sembilu(s) but heck, Awie and Erra are in it. I also know they weren't in the same scene. But who cares? :D

As it turned out, the movie is about a love between a malay girl and a chinese/caucasian boy. What luck! I love these kind of stories. Malay language or not. Yucky or not. As long as it's love of a different race, religion, background, I'll watch it. Reminds me of my own love life. And if I could talk to those characters in the movies and tell them my own story, there won't be many crying scenes. A little maybe, but it'll be a happy ending :)

So, my dear readers (if there's any reader at all!), I'd say you go watch it. (Well, maybe you have because as you know, I'm slow) Don't mind the over-actings of some (most of them!) characters like I did so much (having Awie-Erra in it helps a lot for me). Maybe you'll shed some tears like I did.

By the way, hubby, Happy 11th Year First-Date Anniversary. And don't deny you were trying to touch my hands exactly 11 years ago. Gatal, eh? :p

  • Kecian nya kawan kita ni...apalah? napa tak tanya je ngan kita huh? both stories kita ada vcd nya - Boleh pinjam je...tak payah bayah sewa! Memang crita Sembilu tu ada scenes yg will make you cry (I did) tapi crita ni suitable for teenagers lah... cintan2 gitu (our time dah berlalu) hehehe. Macam crita Gerak Khas 3, setakat nak tengok lakonan misha omar, critanya gitu-gitu jugak... mesti lain kalau tengok crita "ikan emas" ke.."kumbang terbang" ke...

  • My wife went to watch this most movie with the kids. She told me after the movie, when the lights went on, she saw my 5 yr old kid's eyes were watery and ask her why... she said,"Eh, sedih lah pasal budak lelaki tu tinggalkan matair dia". Because of that, my wife cried..... budak2 sekarang..... hmmm.... but the movie that is really yg menyedihkan was the movie 'Hingga ke hujung nyawa' or something like that, lakonan Erra(bekas matair aku) and Yusri(perampas matair orang)..... go watch it... Lagi sedih dari citer Ikan Mas or Kumbang Terbang.... (",)
