Honestly, when was the last time you placed your right fist over your heart and say the Singapore Pledge out loud?
I can't remember the last time I did it before yesterday at my girl's school. They had National Day celebration and parents were invited.
I said it out loud like a true proud Singaporean. And then... I cried!!! First the hair at the back of my neck stood up. And then the hair on my hands. And then the rest of the hairs on my body! Wahahaha! Very touching, you know!
I'm very proud of my country. Proud of its achievements. There's no other place in the world I'd want to call home. Except here, where I belong. ( Where I keep my heart and soul :p )
Happy 40th Birthday, Singapore!
