Yellow Ribbon

Have you heard of the song "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree"? If you have not, it is about a prison inmate who writes home to his family, wanting to know if they are still willing to accept him back after serving three years for a crime he had committed. He will take a bus that will pass by his house. There will be an oak tree somewhere nearby. All his family needs to do to tell him if they still want him is to tie a yellow ribbon round that tree. When he sees it, he'll drop off at the next stop and walk home to be with his family again. If there's no ribbon, he'll stay on the bus to wherever it'll take him, knowing that he's all alone in the world.
This year is the second since the Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) was launched. The objectives of this project is to encourage society to give offenders a second chance in life. It sought to get employers to change their mindset about engaging these offenders. It seeks to get families of this same group of people to acknowledge that humans are fallible, and to forgive their recalcitrant family members so that they could begin life anew.

I received a letter from my only brother today, along with the yellow ribbon. Should I tie it around the oak tree (if there's any)? But if this isn't only the 2nd year of YRP, didn't we tie enough yellow ribbon before? I've lost count...

  • Neo, you related to Jack? :p
That closeup shot was the 20th one I believe. My camera just wouldn't co-operate with me :(

Ah Boi (everytime I type your name, it seems like I'm corresponding with my husband, cos that's his nickname :p), maybe they should come up with another coloured ribbon for the run, or other projects. It's kinda fun to see who's supporting what *smiles*
